Jack Russell Terrier Labrador Retriever Basenji American Pit Bull Terrier Mix

From Ann: Mieko is a Labrador Retriever Basenji American Pit Bull Terrier Jack Russell Terrier mix. This amazing water loving dog killed giant rats and gophers with a quick shake of her head then she would drop dead. She gets into everything and became quite a garbage scrounger in late life. We rescued her at 6 months and she seemed to have been hit by her original owners so she had trouble housebreaking. She loved to chase cats but could be put in her place by cats that stood their ground. She was snippy and overly protective at times and attacked other dogs. She did hurt two in her 14 year life. She was also bitten as a pup by two big Rottweiler dogs. She loved to run and chased after us on our bikes around an empty field. She was a top dog and we had to work with making sure we had control. She could catch a frisbee mid-air. She loved to wait silently until the postal carrier was very close to the house then let out a blood-curdling bark that made everyone freak. Her sister looked like a pit bull and her chest was substantial. We called her a stretch jack russell, but we knew her mom was a Golden Lab. She loved to sit on your lap trying to establish dominance by doing what we called the “butt press” She lived from May 31st 1998-May 26th 2011. She was the best dog in the world. May she rest in peace.
