This is one handsome dog even with out the bandanna. A Chow Chow mixed with a Border Collie would yield a strong intelligent dog. In many cases, the mix will still have the Chow’s black toungue.

We were blessed with a chow border collie mix named Sheba. She was the most intelligent, sweetest dog I have ever owned; loyal and protective, but sweet to strangers unless we exhibited concern. She had black hair like a chow, but the white collar and face of a boarder collie with short little ears that stood up and flapped at the ends. When she was a puppy we often said she looked like a little bear cub. I would highly recommend this mixed breed. My experience was pure bliss.
I have two border collie chow mix. My tan girl looks just like a lion. She is the sweetest thing and loves kids. My black girl his the guard dog of the house. She is very protective, but sweet to those she knows and loves. I rescued both of these girls and hope to find another one just like them. They have made my first time pet experience so memorable.
We rescued a Collie/Chow mix from a shelter and have to say it is a great mix. He is the most loyal and loving dog I have ever had. He is smart, protective when he think we need it and LOVES to play with other dogs. At the request of our groomer, we did the lion shave on him and with his coloring, it looked sooooo real. I even scared a guy on the side walk on one of our nightly walks. He fell right into our house hold with 3 cats. We said you treat them with respect and he does. He is left alone with them (no crate) and treats them wodnerfully. Only thing we are still working on is control when he sees a rabbit or a squirrel. He loves to chase them and can yank the leash out of nowhere. I look forward to seeing him everyday when I come home. I miss him just by typing this.
My family has a 4 year old chow/border collie mix. He has the chow’s sense of loyalty and territory and makes a great guard dog. He barks and growls at anyone who doesn’t live with him, but will peacefully step aside if said stranger sits down, talks, etc. He demands a lot of attention, especially deeper emotional interaction because of his border collie intelligence, but puts out seemingly endless affection in return. He understands some English words and makes what I guess you could call “complex” facial expressions… very cool and intuitive. He is very fast, and runs like a deer. When two great breeds collide, great dogs happen.
Can you send me a pic of your bordie collie chow mix?
I have two border collie chows and they are such wonderful dogs. I got my male as a puppy and he house-trained in one day. I brought my female home from a school where she had been abandoned. They bark when anyone comes near the house, but as soon as someone enters they wag their tales and give kisses. My female is a really cuddler and lays on the couch with me, while my male likes to sit on the floor and get his back petted. They are smart, sweet, and willing to please. My dogs are good with kids, adults, and other dogs. I couldn’t ask for better pets!
Hi! I am looking for one of these mix breed. My mom had one about 27 years ago and my dad a low life type got it killed. So i was wondering where or how do i go about finding one. I live in North Carolina. She said he was red and blond looking. I want to get one that looks just like him for a present. My brother is in the Air force and we don’t know where he is at the moment. So I know that this would cheer her up. If you could help please email me at footbalgurl89{at sign}yahoo.com thank you so much!!

Hello! I am one of those fortunate canine owners who was lucky enough to find a Chow-Border mix. He is solid black and has the appearance of a Chow with the personality and intellect of a Border Collie. He is very smart, loves to please and very affectionate. His name is Buddy. His age is ten. He likes people, but absolutely adores children…..the smaller the better. On holidays when we have the entire family with us he plays with all the kids, sometimes herding them around the yard. He does not bite, seldom barking or growling. Buddy is the best pooch one could ever hope to have. When he was small he looked like a fuzzy little bear cub.
Our 7 year old border collie chow mix rescue (got him as a 2 year old) is the best dog I’ve ever had. He’s smart, loyal, incredibly good looking…. People alway ask what breed?… and he’s become a bit famous…. People always recognize my dog long before they. Recognize me! This is a ver cool dog. Very Wolfy and wonderful coloration… We suspect blue chow and border collie…. He’s got a warm blue fur…
I just had to put down my border collie chow mix. She was going on 14. She was beautiful, so so smart, great with my cats, sweet, loving, gentle, and hardly ever barked. She had no bad habits at all. She had become incontinent and was falling (on the cats at times) and couldn’t get back up. I miss her so much. I would adopt another one of this breed in a heartbeat! I want NO other breed except this mix!
Ditto what everyone else is saying about this perfect mutt mix. I’ve had my rescue Chow-Border Collie for six years and she is just the best! She looks like a little black wolf or a baby bear. She has the Border Collie smarts and the Chow Chow mellowness. She is sweet as can be–she evens works as a Therapy Dog! ^..^
I have a chow//collie mix named Yaya. She is my baby girl. She isvery protective when shehas tone and loves affection and attention. I absolutely love her to death best pet I ever had.
My Chow/B.Collie is named Ike. A friend found him roaming around a chemical plant after Hurricane Ike in Houston so he was aptly named. He is the most relaxed dog I have ever seen. Down in Texas it gets so hot that I shave him in the summer time…usually a long mohawk down his back. Everybody loves it. I have friends who want dogs but dont want the hassle of dealing with an unfamiliar type so they ask to ‘borrow’ Ike for a weekend. He’s quite the popular companion.
